If something that you want to say is on the tip of your tongue, you think you know it and that you will be able to remember it very soon:

คำว่า "tip" แปลว่า "ปลาย" แล คำว่า "tongue" แปลว่า "ลิ้น"  เพราะฉะนั้นสำนวนที่ว่า on the tip of one's tongue หมายถึง ติดอยู่ที่ปลายลิ้น  ถ้าเป็นคำไทยก็คือ ติดอยู่ที่ปาก นั่นเอง
